Ian Teese - Chairman
Ian has been part of the dairy industry for all of his life. Starting out running the family dairy farm in Gippsland, his experience now includes managing the planning, development and operations of large-scale dairy farms in China and South Gippsland.
Since 1996 he has developed links with and knowledge of dairy farms across Western Victoria in addition to working with dairy farmers in Gippsland and northern Victoria. Ian joined the Board in 2011.
Ralph Leutton - Board Member
Ralph Leutton works as an independent advocate and facilitator in natural resource management, industry strategic direction and the areas of vocational training and education.
Mr. Leutton has held a number of contracts with peak industry and producer groups, working with government to develop or resolve policy areas in natural resource management, industry strategy and human resource availability.
During his career, Mr. Leutton has had opportunity to serve on a number of corporate and government oversight boards and is currently a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
There have ranged from large events (Expo 88 and Beef 88); national training (NQC, TVET Aust., Rural Skills Aust., Rural Training Council of Aust., and Agrifood Industry Skills Council); community based boards and committees; as well as in the health service industry.
Mike has an extensive history in dairying and has been farming for 24 years. He moved from New Zealand with his wife Dawn and two children seven years ago and purchased a 300-acre farm at Ecklin South where he milks 300 cows.
Mike joined the board in 2011 and also continues his involvement as chairman of the South West Dairy Natural Resource Management Committee, and as a member of the Glenelg Hopkins CMA's Land Health and Biodiversity Committee and the Brucknell Landcare Group.
Richard and Elizabeth run a 500 cow dairy farm at Naroghid. The home farm is 700 acres and they have a 400 acre out block that is 30km away from the home farm. They employ 6 staff.
The Downs family consists of 4 boys, 1 girl, 2 grandchildren and a cocker spaniel dog. All of their children have left home to further their life experiences in the big smoke.
Richard has been involved with a large range of agricultural and community organisations over the past 40 years, including UDV, WestVic Dairy, DemoDAIRY, CFA, Discussion groups and other committees.
Paul Groves, Farm Consultant
Farm management consultant Paul Groves has been appointed by DemoDAIRY as part of a re-focus on making the dairy business operate profitably during tough economic times.
Mr Groves, from near Timboon, will assist the DemoDAIRY Board to implement changes to develop the farm business.
Mr Groves will review the DemoDAIRY farm operations at Terang over the next three months and hopes to implement changes in consultation with the Board that will return the farm to profitability within 12 to 18 months.
